The Difrax breast pump has a professional vacuum pressure of 250 mmHg. The permitted range for this is between 240 and 260 mmHg. Technically speaking, the Difrax breast pump is sufficient to create a good let-down reflex and express the milk from the breast properly. Insufficient milk supply and / or inhibited let-down reflex is mostly due to expressing on too high a setting, the wrong suction frequency or using the wrong size breast shell.
- Check that you are using the right size breast shell. The nipple should have just enough room to move in the tunnel, with about 2-3mm of space around it. NB:The size of the inner shell can also change if you have been expressing for a while.
- Check that the inner shell is properly connected to the outer shell.
Milk supply does not necessarily correspond to suction strength. If you are experiencing problems breastfeeding and / or expressing, contact a lactation consultant. If you are still struggling with expressing, please contact Difrax Customer Services using the contact form
