Breastfeeding works on a principle of demand and supply and is sensitive to hormonal fluctuations. It is very normal for production to vary throughout the breastfeeding period. There can be a number of reasons for decreased milk production. Such as:
- your baby is temporarily drinking less due to illness
- you are experiencing stress/tension
- you have been ill yourself
- you are not expressing correctly
- your baby's feeding behaviour has changed
