The chart below shows an overview of which parts of the breast pump can be disassembled.
For cleaning, certain parts of the breast pump only need to be washed with warm water and dish soap, while other parts need to be disinfected, for example, because they come into direct contact with milk. Cleaning and disinfecting are two different methods of cleaning that must be done separately to ensure the well-being of both mother and child. Proper cleaning is also essential to maintain the breast pump in good condition.
-
Cleaning: Physically removing milk residues from the surface of the parts. This can be done with warm water and mild dish soap. Make sure to thoroughly rinse the parts to remove all milk and soap residues.
-
Disinfecting: Killing living organisms such as bacteria or viruses that may be present on the surface of the parts. Since some parts of the breast pump come into direct contact with breast milk, disinfecting is important. This can be done in two ways:
- Boiling: Bring the parts to a boil in a pot of water for 3 minutes.
- Steaming: Use the Difrax microwave sterilizer to steam the parts for 5 minutes.
Note: The parts of the breast pump are not dishwasher safe.
Additionally, it is important to dry the parts thoroughly after cleaning and disinfecting. Wipe the parts dry with a clean cloth or leave them to dry completely on a clean cloth. Store the washed parts in a clean storage bag or in a clean, dry place to prevent leakage. The container of the breast pump can be opened to wash it thoroughly, disinfect it, and dry it from the inside. The special seal prevents leakage when the container is closed.
By following these steps, your breast pump will remain in good condition and hygiene will be ensured.
